All dentists, including your general dentist, received training in Endodontics in dental school. General dentists can perform Endodontic procedures along with other dental procedures, but often they refer patients needing Endodontic treatment to Endodontists.
Endodontists are dentists that have two or more years of specialized, advanced training in Endodontics (or root canal therapy), in addition to their general dental training. In the State of Michigan, Endodontists must pass a series of examinations to qualify to be licensed.
Endodontists generally limit their practice solely to endodontic treatment. They perform routine as well as difficult and very complex endodontic procedures, including endodontic surgery. Endodontists are also experienced at finding the cause of oral and facial pain that has been difficult to diagnose.
Dr. McNeight and Dr. Melegari have over 35 combined years of experience in Endodontics, and have been practicing together for over 10 years. Both doctors have actively participated in philanthropic events, education of new and emerging dentists, organized dentistry, and continuing education. Signature Endodontics has taken great care in the selection of our dental equipment to ensure delivery of Endodontic therapy of the highest quality. Signature Endodontics uses state-of-the-art technology such as operating microscopes with xenon light sources, digital imaging, ultrasonic instrumentation, fiber optics, and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT)–all of which allow us to treat patients quickly and comfortably.
Our office also offers flexibility in accommodating emergency cases, so delays in treatment are kept to a minimum and patients can be relieved of dental pain quickly.
